At a recent gathering of supporters in Iowa, Ted Cruz was approached by a young woman who admitted to being an illegal immigrant. The woman wanted to know if Cruz would deport people like her.
His answer was to the point and showed just what kind of leader he would be.
The exchange is featured in a video being pushed by the Democrat National Committee. Iowa Congressman Steve King can be seen standing next to Cruz.
The woman, Ofelia Valdez, can’t be seen in the video but is heard speaking in a nervous tone. “I’m worried about whoever comes next to the presidency and what’s going to happen to people like us,” Valdez said. “So, I just, you know, I think of myself as a part of this community.”
Valdez wanted to know if she is the type of person Cruz would deport.
It was clearly meant to be a “gotcha” moment, and the fact the DNC was there with its video camera strongly suggests Miss Valdez was a plant aimed at “getting” Cruz on his immigration stance.
But Cruz did not waver in his response. He looked straight at Valdez and unabashedly said yes, as president, he would deport anyone who broke our laws…
“Well, listen,” Cruz said, “I would note that if you’re a DACA recipient it means you were brought here illegally, and violating the laws have consequences. And one of the problems with our broken immigration system is that it has created human tragedies. And there are human tragedies when people break the law.”
Cruz went on to say every nation on earth will deport illegals and then made the point “there’s no reason why America’s laws should have less respect than the laws of every country on earth’…
