The liberals who host and/or watch “The View” did not appreciate his statement one single bit.
The despicable procedure known as abortion very often goes hand in hand with personal irresponsibility and a lack of education. When 2016 GOP presidential contender Ben Carson tried to explain this on ABC’s “The View” on Tuesday, audience members about lost their minds.
Carson was making the argument that the private sector needs to “provide adequate daycare centers” for women who get pregnant out of wedlock and worry they won’t be able to handle the responsibility of having a baby.
Host Whoopi Goldberg interrupted him to accuse him of assuming that women who seek abortions “are not educated.”
“I’m talking about most of them,” Carson replied, sending gasps throughout the audience.
“A lot of those young girls who are having babies out of wedlock,” Carson continued, “when they have that first baby, they stop their education, and that child is four times as likely to grow up in poverty.”
He added, “We, as a society, have an obligation to do what’s necessary to stop that cycle.”
Liberals believe stopping this cycle requires handing out free birth control, subsidizing abortion and basically making women dependent on the state for their survival and well-being, and offering incentives for sterilization.
Conservatives like Carson, on the other hand, argue that it actually requires empowering women with the tools, resources and education they need to thrive on their own.
