This is a massive surprise… do you support The Donald’s statement?
The Democrats shy away from any sort of politically incorrect controversy and most Republicans are only willing to dip their toe into a sensitive situation.
Donald Trump, however, is not just any Republican. He wades in, rhetorical guns a-blazing, and mocks anyone too timid to stand up to the P.C. police.
He showed that quality again during last night’s Republican debate on Fox Business Channel, where Trump stood up for American law enforcement officers, calling them the “most mistreated people in America.”
Trump was answering a question on the San Bernardino terror attacks in December, talking about how police had found pipe bombs in the apartment of terrorists Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik.
“And by the way, the police are the most mistreated people in this country,” Trump said to sustained applause. “I will tell you that. The most mistreated people.”
Trump went on to say that “we need vigilance, we need security” to stop another attack like San Bernardino.
Trump’s comments come after a year which saw a wave of anti-police violence. The most recent incident, which saw a police officer shot by a self-proclaimed Muslim extremist in Philadelphia, happened just last week.
On this issue, Trump seems to be drawing as much of a distinction between himself and President Barack Obama as humanly possible.
