A source operating under the umbrella of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) revealed to Breitbart Texas that shots were fired from the Mexican side of the Rio Grande, the river that separates Texas from Mexico. The shots were intended for a U.S. Border Patrol agent or agents and one or more agents returned fire across the border. No injuries are reported, according to the source.
The source told Breitbart Texas that the incident occurred near Rio Grande City, Texas, a small town along the U.S.-Mexico border.
The U.S.-Mexico border in near Rio Grande City does not have a consistent wall or fence of any type. The only physical barrier is the Rio Grande itself, a shallow river that is crossed with ease.
