Most pro-amnesty and pro-illegal immigration lawmakers are vehemently opposed to a border fence for a number of reasons, most notably because they say it won’t work.
This seems like a rather feeble reason to oppose such a fence — after all, if it won’t work, why oppose it? — but Donald Trump dealt the argument a death blow in a Facebook status liked by over 200,000 in less than 24 hours.
In the statement, Trump wondered aloud why those who are convinced that a fence won’t work — such as President Barack Obama or Trump’s challenger Jeb Bush — haven’t applied their convoluted logic to other things.
“For those that don’t think a wall (fence) works, why don’t they suggest taking down the fence around the White House? Foolish people!” Trump wrote on Facebook Monday evening.
The statement quickly went viral, with hundreds of thousands of likes and nearly 30,000 shares by Tuesday morning. In addition, he racked up a lot of supportive remarks.
“The White House fence probably cost more than the one Donald will build along Mexico and Canada when he takes over. Trump 2016,” one Facebook user wrote.
Another said, “fence hell. Make a wall like what Israel built with watch towers and guards.”
And yet another had a more humorous take on it: “No! Don’t take the White house fence down! All the scumbags will escape!”
