Judicial Watch announced on Monday that records released by the Secret Service reveal that taxpayers paid $1.2 million just to fly President Obama’s family to Hawaii for their December 18, 2015 to January 3, 2016 vacation.
That brings the total cost of the First Family’s trip to Hawaii to $4.8 million, the watchdog agency reported.
The latest revelation was obtained under a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch in May after the Secret Service refused to release the travel documents,
Trips to Hawaii have been an annual event throughout Obama’s eight-year presidency. Currently, their travel expenses total $85,029,819.
The Secret Service also released a list of its own expenses for the Hawaii trip, including:
– Hotel and lodging: $1,000,458.63.
– Car rentals: $165,893.88
– Air and rail tickets: $67,964.16.
