Meet the 800-Pound Man Kicked Out of Hospital for Ordering PizzaA Rhode Island man who weighs almost 800 pounds was kicked out of a hospital for ordering a pizza.
According to WJAR, Steven Assanti had been seeking aid for an apparent eating addiction at Rhode Island Hospital. Over the course of 80 days, the 33-year-old had lost 20 pounds, though the end goal was to get his total weight down to 55o pounds in order to become eligible for gastric bypass.
Unfortunately for Assanti, who claims “it’s an addiction, and I realize that,” the hospital kicked him out after he violated his mandated care plan and ordered a pizza.
The hospital refused to disclose any information about Assanti’s case. Meanwhile his father, Steven Veillette, claims that “if he comes home and I do get him up the stairs somehow, someway he’s going to go right back to his eating habits.” So the two have decided to take Assanti on the road in search of someone who can help.
