Raw Video: ISIS Was Holding 70 Hostages. Then Delta Force Kicked in the Door and Crashed Their Party. Click to Tweet

It’s been said that the realities of war can never truly be understood by those who’ve never experienced it for themselves, despite the best efforts of Hollywood and the video game industry.

In a video released Saturday – which has been confirmed as authentic by the U.S. military, CNN reports – civilians are offered a rare glimpse into an operation that dramatically revealed the role that the American military is undertaking in the fight against ISIS.

The video, which was reportedly initially released by the Kurdistan Regional Government, depicts scenes from a pre-dawn raid that was undertaken on Thursday to free ISIS-held hostages from a compound in Iraq…

The footage from the raid appears to show both American and Kurdish soldiers – including Delta force operators – entering the prison compound, escorting dozens of hostages out as the staccato of gunfire is heard in the background.

The freed hostages reportedly later told military officials that they were to be executed that same day following morning prayers…
