This will push the president’s buttons… Good.
A 65-year-old New Hampshire grandmother who shot a man who tried to rob her said that if she had to relive the moment, she “would do it again.”
The woman wished to remain unidentified, but was willing to speak with local media about the incident.
WBZ reported that the Manchester woman noticed a car following her as she drove home from work as a poker dealer at about 11:30 p.m. Jan. 4.
“Your gut will tell you when something isn’t right,” she said.
After she got out of her car, the woman said, a figure in a black-hooded sweatshirt ran out of the following car and reached to grab her.
The perpetrator, 23-year-old Michael Bontaites, was shocked when the woman, who has held a concealed carry permit for 10 years, took a handgun out of her pocket and shot him.
The grandmother was thankful for her opportunity to defend herself, but acknowledged the fact that it is never an easy decision to shoot someone, even in self-defense.
“I’m not happy about it,” she said said. “Hope I never have to do it again, you know. But if I was in a situation like that I would imagine I would do it again.”
As Bontaites entered the Elliot Hospital for treatment for his gunshot wounds, police were immediately able to identify him as the perpetrator.
