The sports channel announced Schilling will not appear in any telecasts for the remainder of the regular season or in the American League wild-card game.
The former pitcher was pulled from a major league game last month after he reposted an image on Aug. 25 that compared the percentage of Germans who were Nazis in 1940 to the percentage of Muslims who are extremists today.
Schilling said he’d made a “bad decision” when reposting the image but he still maintains that the point he was trying to make was clear.
The threat of radical extremists is real and Schilling attempted to draw a comparison between two evils.
ESPN released a statement saying, “Curt’s actions have not been consistent with his contractual obligations nor have they been professionally handled; they have obviously not reflected well on the company.” (H/T Newsmax)
Once again, the politically correct have blown a situation completely out of proportion — for fear of offending someone.
What ESPN should be worried about is the fact that Schilling didn’t post anything terribly inaccurate.
