NOPD identifies one suspect in Bunny Friend Playground shooting

NEW ORLEANS–The NOPD has identified one of the suspects believed to be responsible for a shooting incident at a New Orleans playground that injured 17 people. The shooting happened on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Bunny Friend Playground, located in the 1900 block of Gallier Street.

Around 6:15 p.m., several hundred people were gathered at the playground for a block party when witnesses say at least two groups of individuals began shooting at each other. Witnesses told police that the suspects left the park on foot immediately after the shooting. Fifth District officers, who were already on their way to the playground to break up the crowd after learning of the event, arrived immediately after the shooting occurred.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified 32-year-old Joseph “Moe” Allen as one of the suspects involved in the shooting. Once he is apprehended, Allen will be charged with 17 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder.
