Cruz Fires Back at Obama’s ‘Lunacy,’ Will Push Bill to Ban Muslim Refugees Click to Tweet

Ted Cruz today fired back against President Obama slamming the idea of a “religious test” for Syrian refugees by saying that of course it’s a problem to bring in a group of people with radical beliefs.

During his G20 speech today, the president said that refusing to take in refugees would be “a betrayal of our value,” and said of the religious test issue, “That’s shameful. That’s not American.”

Cruz responded in an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash this afternoon, saying that the plan to bring in thousands of refugees is “nothing short of lunacy.”

Bash brought up how Cruz’s father fled Cuba and asked about him potentially being turned away. “If my father,” Cruz responded, “were part of a theocratic and political movement like radical Islamism that promotes murdering anyone who doesn’t share your extreme faith or forcibly converting them, then it would make perfect sense.”
