CALEXICO, Calif. – El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico station apprehended a dangerous gang member attempting to make an illegal entry into the United States today.

Border Patrol agents arrested a 23-year-old Mexican national at around 9 a.m., as he entered the United States illegally from Mexico approximately four miles east of the downtown Calexico Port of Entry.

The man, later identified as Hector Morales-Reynosa, was transported to the Calexico Border Patrol station for processing.  Record checks revealed that Morales is a known gang member with an extensive criminal record and immigration history.

Morales is an aggravated felon who has convictions from Kankakee, Illinois for aggravated discharge of a firearm.  He was sentenced to four years prison time for his crime.

Morales is in Border Patrol custody and will be criminally prosecuted for re-entry into the United States after being ordered removed.
