Loring Wirbel, a board member of the Colorado American Civil Liberties Union who was apparently dissatisfied with attacking Republican front-runner Donald Trump, recently denounced Donald Trump’s supporters … among other things.
In a series of Facebook posts, Wirbel compared Donald Trump to the Nazi Party and suggested that all of Trump’s supporters should be rounded up and shot.
“The thing is, we have to really reach out to those who might consider voting for Trump and say, ‘This is Goebbels. This is the final solution. If you are voting for him I will have to shoot you before election day,’” he suggested.
“They’re not going to listen to reason, so when justice is gone, there’s always force, as Laurie would say,” he added, according to The Daily Caller, which captured and published several screenshots of the Facebook posts.
Rather than take back his comments when challenged on them, Wirbel blasted the entire Republican Party and anyone who might vote Republican.
“But see, most people don’t even know what reason is. They don’t use anything other than the lower brain,” he wrote. “And would no more make decisions based on logical conclusions than choose milk based on a theme song. The base of the Republican Party is unfamiliar with a cortex.”
The ACLU of Colorado released a statement saying it “does not condone the recent personal Facebook post of regional volunteer Loring Wirbel.
Wirbel has since tendered his resignation.
