The Philadelphia Eagles cut quarterback Tim Tebow from their 53-man roster on Saturday, seemingly bringing to an end the outspoken Christian’s attempt at an NFL comeback.
Rather than lash out in anger at the last minute rejection, Tebow instead handled the news with grace and gratitude.
Tim Tebow tweeted, “Thanks Eagles and Coach Kelly for giving me the opportunity to play the game I love! Romans 8:28 #Blessed”
The move came as a bit of a surprise to many people, especially Tebow’s fans, as he had a productive training camp and preseason this year, even throwing a couple of touchdown passes in his final preseason game.
In fact, his position on the team seemed nearly certain, after back-up quarterback Matt Barkley was traded to the Arizona Cardinals on Friday, according to USA Today.
Alas, it was not to be for Tebow this year, at least with the Eagles, though there is the possibility that some other team could pick him up as a free agent to bolster the depth of their quarterbacks or perhaps fill another position…
