An Air Force officer driving a motorcycle with two Confederate flags attached to it was attacked Saturday by a local hate group in Olympia, Washington.
Officials said they are looking for two men in particular who assaulted the man during what was supposed to be a peaceful protest.
The hate group, which describes its members as anarchists, attacked a pilot from the Joint Base Lewis-McChord while he was held up in traffic due to the protest, according to a news release.
“The protesters saw two confederate flags attached to the back of the victim’s motorcycle and surrounded him, rocking the bike in an attempt to knock it over,” said a news release. “They sprayed the victim in the face with mace, and struck him in the back with a baseball bat and a glass bottle filled with red paint.”
