Upon learning that the Obama administration plans to resettle 200,000 refugees (many of them from Muslim countries) in the United States by 2017, Sen. Jeff Sessions issued a press release outlining the many reasons why we ought not go through with it.
“The U.S. has already taken in four times more immigrants than any other nation on Earth,” he told Breitbart on Monday. “Our foreign-born population share is set to break every known historical record.”
The Alabama Republican claimed that we have already resettled 1.5 Muslim refugees in the United States since 2001 and that 90 percent of these refugees subsist on food stamps, while 70 percent of them receive free taxpayer-subsidized healthcare.
“All of the nearly 200,000 refugees the Administration is planning to bring over the next two years would be entitled to these same benefits the moment they arrive,” Sessions continued.
Given our enormous debt and the fact that “(o)ur schools, job markets and public resources are already stretched too thin,” it would therefore make very little sense to add to the burden by importing hundreds of thousands of more potential government dependents.
