Former CIA Director Gen. David Petraeus to Testify Before 9/11 Benghazi Committee

Washington, D.C.— Select Committee on Benghazi Communications Director Jamal Ware released the following statement announcing the upcoming private testimony of several additional witnesses:

“As part of its thorough, fact-centered investigation into what happened before, during, and after the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attacks, the Select Committee has obtained and reviewed roughly 100,000 pages of documents from various departments and agencies, most of them never before seen by any congressional committee. Since its public hearing with the former Secretary of State on October 22, it has privately interviewed four witnesses – one from the State Department, one from the Department of Defense, and two from the national security community – for a total of 59 witnesses, including 50 who had never been interviewed by a congressional committee. This information, as well as other documents our investigators are still waiting to receive from the White House, State Department and the CIA, and other witnesses whose appearances are in the process of being scheduled, will inform the final, definitive report and recommendations the Committee hopes to release within the next few months.”

The following witnesses will be interviewed in private. Asterisks denote witnesses who have never been interviewed by a congressional committee. This schedule is not comprehensive and is subject to change. The Committee still plans to interview former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Under Secretary of State for Management Patrick Kennedy, among others.
